Horse in My Backyard

Spring has sprung and since my new home is out in the country I am constantly inundated by peacocks calling to mate with peahens as they have been hooting all day and night.  I was able to spot a peacock that escaped from the farm behind me a few weeks ago and it inspired me to grab my camera and to explore my backyard at sunset.  When I walked up the hill I was disappointed that I could not locate a peacock but then I was greeted by our neighbor's horse who was very curious and approached me.  Once I started feeding her I decided to take a few pictures of her instead of searching for peacocks and had an enjoyable evening.

Michael and Aunt Barbara

Michael has been attending two schools this school year and enjoys public school in the morning and private school in the afternoon.  Michael is thriving in this modified environment and his private school teacher, Christie Johnson, invited us to his classroom to show off his work.  Here are pictures of Michael with his Aunt Barbara that I absolutely adore!

The Easter Bunny Strikes Again!

Today the Easter Bunny visited our home and decided to hop up to the backdoor because Michael staked out the front door to surprise the Easter Bunny last night.  Here's proof that the Easter Bunny was here and he also ate the carrots that Michael left out for him.

Deer in our Backyard

Tonight we heard Ozzy whining to go outside and discovered we had two young bucks grazing in our backyard.  I am still amazed to see wild animals in our backyard and plan to photograph the turkeys the next time they visit us.

Maker Faire 2014

This year I took Michael and Bridget to Maker Faire and was grateful for the cooler weather because it's typically 90 degrees in San Mateo and Michael melts at 80 degrees.  Michael and Bridget made it through four hours at the event before they started to complain about their feet hurting from walking.  Here are a few of my favorite pictures.

Michael's 5th Grade Open House

I visited Michael's public classroom to see his self-portrait and to say goodbye to his phenomenal RSP teacher, Chris Schunk, who is moving on to work with high school students.  I was grateful that Michael was able to work with Chris for the last few years and I appreciate having him in Michael's life.  Chris is a fantastic teacher who cares about his students and I wish we had more teachers like him.

Michael's 5th Grade Picnic & Graduation

Michael graduated today and I have a houseful of kids because he informed me on Tuesday that I was hosting a 5th grade graduation party that included lunch, swimming, BBQ, movie, popcorn and a slumber party.  It was really nice of him to share his plans with me so I had a little time to prep for it.

Knott's Berry Farm 2014 - Poppy & Grandma's 50th

Sonoma Canopy Tours - Zip Lining 2014

If you ever visit Sonoma County then I highly recommend going to Sonoma Canopy Tours in Occidental (Sonoma Canopy Tours Website) and spend two hours amongst the trees zip lining between Douglas Firs and Giant Redwoods.  If you are afraid of heights then I do not recommend this as you are 200 feet above the ground and you zip line from tree to tree.  The redwood trees have shallow roots which causes them to sway when you land at a redwood tree platform.  It's exciting, exhilarating and makes me feel alive.

Maui 2014 - Day One

Maui is stunning!  After an exhausting day of traveling we arrived at the Grand Wailea and the grounds are amazing with pools, lazy rivers, water slides, gardens and waterfalls.  My favorite part of day one was body surfing in the ocean.

Michael, Mario and I went on a road trip to Hookipa Beach, Twin Falls and attempted to drive down the infamous "Road to Hana".  Needless to say we only made it a third of the way down because we ran out of time and we were starving because all we had was pineapple and water.  Next time!
